NWTCJNR: Q2 Apr-June Training Programme

Hello Everyone,

Please find the "proposed" training and events programme for Q2 2017 (Apr - June). As always we will do our best to keep to this programme as closely as possible but again as i'm sure you are aware "things" can crop up and derail our best-laid plans. We will post before the friday of each week what is happening that weekend to give you as best a heads up as possible.

Thanks again for your understanding & support (pdf for printing & sticking on the fridge)

NWTCJNR: Event 2nd April Errigal

This weekend see a first for us a group accent of Errigal. Errigal is the highest mountain in Donegal and on a clear day can give great views over the poison glen & the donegal coast line. Errigal is over 750mtr high or 2500ft high in old money and is approx 1.5 miles from the carpark (where you start) to the summit.
The Bus will leave the complex at 10am sharp returning approx 4pm. Please be in the Templemore Sports Complex Carpark by 9.45am as we would like to get away by 10am sharp.
Bus Cost is £5 per adult & £3 per child.
The walk starts off slow, as you are moving through a patch of bog land so take your time walk around the wet & keep yourself dry as you can and safe at all times. Hill walking is great fun but can be dangerous so please listen at all times to the coaches & parents/guardians.
Near to the top is shale (sharp loose stones) be VERY careful here both on the way up and especially the way down. the stones are very loose and can move easily once stood…

NWTCJNR: No Training Tomorrow 19th March

Don't Forget a weekend off tomorrow morning. Enjoy the rest & see you all next week 26th

Sunday 12th March Club Triathlon

This Sunday 12th March, the junior club will be holding a duathlon
along "The Line". As this is a tarmac surface, we will be trying to
adhere to distances advised by Triathlon Ireland, which are listed
below for the various age groups. This will be a great opportunity to
test your fitness levels after all the hard work in training you have
been doing over the winter.

The plan is to meet at Foyle Valley railway car park on Foyle Road at 9:
30am, then walk or cycle up to starting point, which will be at the
football pitches after Coshowen. The edge of the football pitches will
act as our transition area. The first group will begin by 10am and
numbers will determine how many and which age groups we set off each

The whole event should be completed by 11am.

Remember to bring helmets. Road bikes can be used as well as mountain

This is a public pathway, so we need to ensure that we are mindful of
walkers, joggers, dogs and other cyclists.

Hopefully th…

Sunday and membership

Well done to everyone who took part in last Sunday's cycle at Gransha.
Despite the weather, the numbers were great and everyone seemed to have
a great time, if you can measure a great time by how wet and mucky you
are at the end!!

For this Sunday, the schedule is showing a duathlon, but in order to
prepare for that we usually have a transition session, so this Sunday,
following the swim session, we will have a bike run transition
session. Be sure to bring your bike, helmet and running shoes and of
course warm clothing for outside training.

We are now into March and at this stage we would expect that everyone
would have renewed their membership. For insurance purposes we are
going to have to insist that all juniors taking part in club sessions
are current members of the North West Triathlon Club juniors. From
this Sunday we will only be admitting juniors who are members, so in
order to prevent any embarrassment at being turned away, please ensure
that you have rene…
